When it comes to children’s books, we especially like those which have won Newbery and Caldecott Awards, and we have a number of these separated out in the Children’s area. Newberys are books chosen by the American Library Association as “most distinguished American children’s book published in the previous year”.
The Caldecott Metal is for “distinguished picture book”. Many familiar reads from childhood are winners, including The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg, The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton, and Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak.
The library has an excellent collection of books for young adults.
